Once again there is an opportunity to come to Treasures of Heaven Family Camp. This is the annual family event for Blessed Children (aged 16 and over) who have some mental and/or physical disability and their parents. We are looking for volunteers too.
This programme is tailored to suit the needs of blessed children with physical and/or mental disabilities – personal circumstances that would prevent them from joining in regular youth workshop activities. This is now a mainstream event forming an important part of our Europe-wide summer activities for young people. It is a joint project of volunteers from blessed families who have staffed ToH camps in the past with the ESGD support as a part of the ESGD Summer activities.
At least one parent is required to accompany their child. During the programme, where appropriate, parents and children will be offered separate sessions – but in close proximity to each other. This way children get a well-earned break from their parents and parents get a well-earned break also! There again, it is a family event – so there will be activities together as well – singing and mealtimes, an outing and entertainment, a campfire and more.
We welcome your ideas and input at the planning stage to help us shape the programme to the participants’ needs and wishes. No one knows your child better than you: his or her hobbies, skills and limitations, physical and mental situation, dietary needs, etc. Upon registration you will be asked questions relating to your child’s specific needs and interests – the information you provide will greatly help the staff to make the Summer Camp an enjoyable and helpful experience for your child and for you.
Participants need to register online here latest by 15 June!
If you would like to volunteer – either as an adult with experience or interest in this area, or as a young person who would like to serve your brothers and sisters by being a ‘buddy’ for the week (and learning a lot in the process), please register here.
We are kindly asking for help from families in communities throughout Europe. With the financial support received, we will be able to offer some subsidy to participating families and the essential volunteer staff.
If you are able to support, please make a donation in one of the following ways:
1) Donations via Paypal (preferred): TOHeurope@gmail.com
2) Donations via Credit or Debit Card: Please click on the ‘donate’ button on the ToH website
